The Beast Within

Greetings Strong warriors,

Yesterday I stayed as far away from the electronic devices as I could. I knew wounds have been opened deeply within me. And I knew not many will or can understand my big heart when it comes to animals. I am crucified most days when I say, that I will rather help an animal before a human, and it is true. I cannot lie about my song of my soul.

Someone calls me Joan of Arc, in my mind the name holds so much of honor, so much of courage, and huge responsibility… I treasure that name, and I know it comes form a place of love. The last couple of weeks I felt less that snake shit on the sea ocean. Words for me is a let-out, I say what I mean, and mean what I say. Now I sound like DR. Seuss.

But I am no wordsmith. I merely share what lies in my heart and sometimes people see it as negativity, depression, or darkness.

There are good questions for you today. How do you discharge of sadness, and anger? These two powerful feelings can drown you in sea of overwhelming darkness…

I am externalising today, as I know my own inter being well. I know what I say yes to, and I know what I will never do.

So, let me ask you the following about discharging sadness….

Do you ever cry?

Under what circumstances do you cry?

Do you cry because someone has hurt you, because you feel lonely, because you are scared?

Do you cry for no apparent reason?

Do you cry only when alone or do you permit another to see your tears?

Sometimes you may have a feeling of being on the verge of tears. You feel like you would like to cry but you have difficulty to “let it out”. At this point, you may find that a particular artistic prompt will help – and there are many to choose from.

Evocative pieces of music that have personal significance for you can often help elicit the tears. Watching an emotional movie, reading poetry or literature, it can be a simple T.V. commercial that brings on an initially vague sense of sadness to the surface…. Most of us, swallow this back. We swallow the tears, suppressing it… allowing it to fester. Cry if you must… if you cannot allow yourself the beauty of emotional freedom, you are enslaved.

Anger, often we are angry or frustrated but are reluctant to express it for fear of hurting another. There are ways to “discharge” without causing any harm to another. Ways that do not involve “dumping” your anger on someone else… Going through physical motions associated with aggression will usually bring anger to the surface. Ask me, I know this first hand. This is where we need to choose an inanimate object.

I wish I had people showing or telling me this growing up, so let me share a little with you.

Hit a pillow

Scream into the pillow

Hit a punching bag

Throw eggs against a wall or in the bathtub

Yelling in the confines of your car – that doesn’t mean at the car that cut you off dude, or the person that helped the anger surface, it is about you, not them.

Go chop wood, we south Africans do not do that, I have watched the therapeutic and rhythmic motion and I have felt better just for watching.

Hit a life-size inflatable ball

Go for a run….

There is a warning here, it is not recommended that you engage in this on a daily basis. Studies have shown that excessive ventilation of anger produces more anger… shocking isn’t it?

There is popular term for it – rageaholic it is real… as real as anything we name, class and label.

That old saying of everything in moderation comes to mind here. And one can become hostage to excessive expression of anger. As I said, ask me, I know…

Did you know that anxiety prone people withhold or deny angry feelings in most circumstances… Anger for some people can be a difficult emotion for some people.

Most of us experience frustration, but it is a form of anger, a mild form of anger. Then obviously there is rage, extreme impatience and irritation…. Note that irritation and frustration is not the same beast. But it is the same “class” as anger.

Another shocker for me was the awareness of proneness to phobic disorders and OCD is often associated with withheld anger… *SHOCKER*

There are many reasons why people with phobic disorders and other types of anxiety disorders be predisposed to deny and withhold anger.

In all the “book knowledge” the one thing that stood out for me, was the people pleaser. Such people are often dependent on others in a relationship. They cannot show outward anger… for the fear of alienating the very person they need for “survival”.

Control freaks, mmmhhhh…. Type of anxiety disorder by the way – giving in and the loss of control is the most frightening part, as we must always “have a grip” on ourselves…

There are potent guidelines to deal with anger… As I said, I wish that I had this knowledge years ago. But better late than never, right?

Enjoy the evaluation of your discharge of sadness and anger… Until we meet again, keep your head held high and share your beautiful light wherever you go.

  1. Dear Reader,

Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

    Have a beautiful day.

  2. Dear Reader,

Thank you for the feedback, as I have mentioned to another reader a while ago, there are different dictionaries used in UK, USA and SOUTH AFRICA, we do however find that a letter is missing, slip of the finger, at times. Thank you for bringing it to our attention, much appreciated. It is human nature to have errors in our ways, whether it be a typing error or more severe than that.

Criticism can be taken negative or positive, we take it positive… and do not judge should we find feedback, with the same constraints as mentioned within us.

    Have a blessed day.

  3. Dear Visitor,

Thank you for the encouragement, we are still in the baby shoes, however hoping that we grow up, big and strong!
