Emotionality

Spread the love

Greetings everyone,

I hope that you are well and have had a blessed Monday. Yesterday for me was the first series of treatment again for the check on nasty little cells hiding in my body. I am now already apologizing for NOT getting back to most of you, but if you know how sick this makes one, I know you will understand. We are back today for the next lot, tomorrow morning and Friday morning… Hold me in your thoughts.

Besides the above, our Simba – the little paraplegic is in hospital, with his brother Salem for treatment on Giardia, prayers requested there too please!

Salem has been in hospital for a while now, and mom feeling so out of sorts are not able to visit as often as I would like. However, we are always positive that this will pass quickly and the boys home, healthy and loved.

I am in two minds this morning on the subject, to continue with the personality or tell you the emotional hi-jack I ma experiencing right now. I think I will continue on the personality and tell you about the emotional hi-jack tomorrow when the emotional side of me have had the chance to settle a little. See, huge choices, and one that I have managed to learn from – but as I am still human it does take me away at times.

Now to have the cats move so I can give you feedback! 😊

Some time ago I asked where you would place me in different fields based on the analyses, and today, I hand you feedback on my emotionality. Remember that there is a high and a low, and the scale is from 0-100.

Can I ask quickly that you think on where you would place me? I think some will place me high on the emotional scale, right?

You will be wrong. I score a nicely solid 52 on the emotional scale, yes, I will hand it to you, I do have the tendencies to be over-emotional, I like to call it, over-animated as you have seen. Makes me feel better.

The two opposite ends of emotionality are CALM and EXCITABLE. With my solid score it states that I am sensible. Stop laughing, and no, it is not wrong… 😊

It tells me that I am able to take a confident and balanced stand in dealing with stress. People that score high in emotionality tend to react easily and strongly in emotional situations – sometimes with too much sensitivity. People who score low tend to be very calm and looks like they are non-responsive.

Me, I stand between these extremes. I am able to adapt my behaviour to what seems appropriate for the situation. And yes, sometimes the judgement call is wrong. The beauty is that I own it.

For the most part I am relaxed and even tempered, even under severely stressful situations. I am not easily frustrated and am not likely to carry a grudge. Good to know doctor.

I am expressive of my feelings, but not overly expressive.

There are clear challenges obviously; on occasion, I am prone to feelings that come from no-where. When I do not understand the feeling, I tend to ignore them, NEVER A GOOD THING, I then have an outward “look” of calm.

Researchers have found that the incident of illness increases in individuals who suppresses their feelings, particularly anxiety and anger. As if we don’t know all this. My chart does warn me, to acknowledge all the emotional responses, both good and bad….

Then we have the recommendations:

Cognitive theorists believe that if it is possible for people to change the way they make appraisals and attributions about the nature and cause of events, their emotional experiences can be changed. What does this mean you may ask? The way we are feeling within any given moment heavily influences the way we perceive, interpret, and remember information within that specific moment. Ahhhh, makes one think of the moments one cannot remember… Do you know, that a simple hello can be seen as very friendly or hostile, depending on how we are feeling when we hear it. It is very important to take note of these connections, and for my little old self, even more so, as I can easily swing from one end to the other.

Then there are the hormonal releases that has nothing to do with the external experiences. You know that PMS, ESP – now I am a bitch that knows everything, did you laugh, well add a GPS to the mix, and you are a bitch that knows everything, and where to find your victim.

But experiments have also found that your facial expressions have a huge impact on the rest of the body, there must be truth in the saying “smile when you feel blue”.

In fact, from research it has come known that if people can control their facial expressions while in a moment of displeasure, there will be less arousal of the nervous system, and that can decrease the emotional experience. Whistle while you walk… and feel better about your day.

My mom used to say, people that hum or sing while they work are happy people. I am still to today, working on this particular facet of my human experience.

Being Libra born with those delicate scales, and having a mid-evaluation on emotionality, I have learned at least that I should be aware of my “mood” and the expression I carry. Many see me as unapproachable – when I hear this, it makes me sad, as the rest that know me personally, know that no matter the issue, I can and will listen, and help should the need be.

Let me then be aware of my “face” for today. As I venture off to another yuk injection that I KNOW will have me sick for the rest of the day. Do you think if I whistle it will go away?

Much love to you all, be aware of your face the rest of the day!!!
