Thoroughness

Spread the love

Greetings Everyone,

Special shout out the huge amount of daily readers on the web-site. I cannot wait to start interacting with you all in a personal capacity. I have extended the email address to be used, or as indicated, contact me directly on the website.

Seemingly you are all enjoying the journey of my own unique personality, let us then continue with another aspect of what makes me… well, ME.

For the late commers, we have spoken about quite a couple of facets over the last couple of days, please feel free to read back to understand what we are sharing.

We have spoken about Extroversion, Emotionality. Today we speak about Thoroughness. We have our scale, 0-100, for a second, where would you place me on this scale of thoroughness, and depending of where you draw the “line” what does it mean to you?

It sounds so silly in asking the question, what is thoroughness? Do you know? It refers to a task-focus. A person that is high in thoroughness tends to focus on one task at a time, exhibiting the SELF-DISCIPLINE associated with such a focus. A person with low thoroughness tends to pursue a larger number of tasks at one time, exhibiting the distractibility associated with diffuse focus. And there little ol’ you thought juggling 50 million balls in the air is a good thing.

So where am I?

I score a beautiful 75% on the thoroughness chart. I take my commitments seriously, but I do not get carried away by them. I have a high degree of self-sufficiency and, when desired, loads of self-control.

You did see that – desire – part? 😊

According to the psychosomatic evaluation, I am reliable and easily motivated. When I establish a particular area of interest, I am persistent towards each goal. Do you think this is correct? Those who know me?

I like feeling capable, and I like to “get things done”. This kind of pisses people off, those who waffle around, I get things done and then I waffle. Then I have more time to waffle!

I have studied this field, as I find the composure of the human psyche fascinating, thus me sharing about myself with you. And I hope that it triggers some part of you, making you either think or wonder about what components make you who you are. And if you thought this is the only parts, think again, we have not even touched on the mystical layers of the awesome me!

Organizational skills come to me naturally. Disorganized situations strikes me as chaotic. There is a flip side to this “me”, a have areas of “organized chaos”, It looks like a bomb hit the room, but I can assure you, I know where everything is, and I know where what belongs. Sound familiars in your own world?

I am uncomfortable when I have to function without a plan. I also work best if the purpose of a situation is understood. When I feel ‘Stuck”, I get myself moving again by returning to the beginning. I ask myself about the purpose of the task. I have to be honest, if I do not understand the purpose of a task, I find almost impossible to complete.

Research does show that people with a high in thoroughness make the best employees, managers, executives; they are more likely to become leaders, gain status, get promoted, earn higher salaries, and feel a greater sense of commitment to their tasks. I am sure that I have been in the wrong fields… *laughing myself silly* but whom am I to argue about the statistical research on the subject.

There is a huge warning flag on this facet of the personality, when the commitment turns to the extreme, it can result in workaholism.

At one stage I did become a workaholic, people say it is not a bad thing, yes it is. Spending so much of my time and energy in a place that did not value it, forgetting that there are a small human and a husband that needed some of that time too. Allowing life to overcome me, I returned to basics. I tell any student nowadays, return to basics. Do not become a workaholic.

Use my practices of selectivity on the projects you undertake, and work hard on the time-management factors – value those skills once learned and use them everywhere in your life. Yes, I get in the hum-drum of life too, and I forget the basic skill I have, and time does catch me. I shall not crucify myself for being late for something, as I used to be an hour early for everything. Do not get me wrong, an appointment is an appointment, and for that you must be ready and on time. But if you plan to get to the mall at 11, and you see the clock and it is 12, it is ok. In those hours you may have lost the “time” with a beloved pet, or a person that needed you. AH, let us not mis-understand each other. Boundaries are healthy ok? I am not advocating self-sacrifice over here, I am simply reminding you, that TIME should not chase you.

What would be my work style based on what I have told you?

I am attracted to “things” I can get into and sort out. In a team, I can provide structure and organisation.

Can you believe that I am seen as a moderate? As a moderate in thoroughness, my “more balanced” profile is of great value to me in both work and personal.

I am persistent enough to get done what I need to do, but also flexible enough to change gears without feeling discomfort. I can help those that are extremely structured to relax a little bit, while at the same time guide those who are easily distracted from a target.

Maybe that is why I love doing what I am doing and spreading just a little of my light into those dark voids of your world.

May you have a blessed Monday, and may your night be filled with love and healing, understanding and joy, excavating your authentic self in the simplest of ways, and loving each part of whom you are.
