Good Morning Beautiful Earth Travellers,
Our wishes are that your weekend passed with love and joy, as always if not, we hope that you have had the hand and love of someone that cared enough to listen to the unspoken words as well.
Us this side, have woken to a beautiful raining day, cats not loving it much, but I think it will be the last until spring to come. We celebrated Mother’s Day in South Africa this past weekend. A bit of an emotional time with memories of parents that have crossed over in my own life, my sisters and my husband. We are blessed to have each other and the simple understanding of the pain that can consume one. Lucky me for receiving little rose candles, all pink from my daughter. Guess I need some love in my life right now, as pink is not my preferred colour.
Have you ever wondered why you instinctively do things? Have you ever asked yourself why certain types of people, tasks and situations naturally appeal to you more than other people, tasks and situations do?
What makes you think and feel the way you do?
The answer is simple… YOUR PERSONALITY
Every moment of every day, your personality influences the way you interact with the world. Your personality is what makes you stand out from other people. It humbly reflects your general pattern of interacting with individuals and going about tasks – whether you are withdrawn or outgoing, excitable or calm, kind or stern, active or passive.
It influences not only your attitudes, beliefs, and interests, but also your perception of the world, your stress reactions, and the general coping mechanisms that help you deal with life. It also determines the way you notice, process and remember information.
YOUR UNIQUE WAY OF THINKING
To understand why you think you do, try the following task:
Say out loud the first word that comes to mind when you read the word “BLUE” –
For me, easy – it is CALM
When given this task, some people will name a word from nature – sky, water, whale, moon.
Some will name a feeling – sad, cold, drunk (tested 😊 )
Others will name something completely unexpected – table, chair, cow, grass
You might think that whatever word you would choose depends on your current mood or circumstance, and that this isn’t a very well-rounded test of personality. I fully agree.
Psychological research has shown however, that if you are asked the same question years from now, you will give the same answer.
Does it mean that you have a super memory, perhaps it does? Most likely, though, the phenomenon is simply related to the unique brain pattern that you have been setting up since you were a child.
Imagine that there are pathways in your brain, like hiking paths cut through a forest. In a forest, the way that the trees and vegetation grow makes it that certain paths are easier and more preferable to use than others. The more you use those paths, the more worn-in they become. After several years of use, your footprints begin to leave a mark.
This is how it works with your brain’s preferred information pathways. The amount of information you have in your head might change over time, but the way you collect, organize, utilize and react to information is not likely to change. In fact, by the age of 13 your personality and preferred thinking patterns begin to crystallize.
A few small changes occur as you gather experience with the world, but by the age of 30 your personality and thought process patterns are likely to remain stable throughout your lifespan.
That is, we may alter our appearances, start new hobbies, change our circle of friends, or switch our political opinions, but our personalities and our preferred ways of processing information are likely to remain pretty much the same.
Why this share this morning? Firstly, over the next couple of days I will share intimate knowledge about my personality. It is not a wiff-waff approach towards this, however an over 100 pages break down of who I am. It is one thing that have peaked my interest form a fairly young age – why we react the way we do – and why it is so diverse. I think it has lead to the field I have studied as well. Understanding another person, based on different facets of their unique personality.
Secondly, giving you the opportunity to look at your personality, remember that one can alter any thinking process. Does this make sense to you? Let us go back to the forest, you can start cutting back vegetation, and you can walk a new path. But did I not just say that you cannot change the personality – your personality will never change – however you can re-look your beliefs, your core inner structure and you can find ways of RESPONDING differently towards a specific situation.
It implies an expansion of self, the information you gather will be processed pretty much the same, what you do with it, therein lies the challenge.
Coaching has not taken off in south Africa, I am sure that in years to come it may, you have the gift of finding treasured information shared with you in Healing Evolution. Should you ever wish a complete feedback and informational package on your unique personality… you know where to find me. Just a note, this is not your personality based on your astrological sign. It is based on a questionnaire for submission and feedback, it is the INNER you… Your emotional state and needs, your interactive style, your work style and then a comparison to the averages.
Thank you for joining me on the first day of the PERSONALITY. I do wonder though, where would you place me? The Idealist, The Artist, The protector or the Thinker? This will be interesting for me – cant wait to see where you think I am!
Have a wonderful Monday
